2010/11

Welcome to Leeds University LGBT Society! The fact that you are reading this page could mean one of three things. You're either interested in joining the LGBT, have just joined, or you're lost! If it's the latter, you might want to carry on reading, otherwise the links at the right of the page should help you find what you're really looking for!

Ok then. If you've read the "About" page then you should basically know why we're here and what we do. The society is open to anyone who feels that they fall into one of the L, G, B or T descriptions, but also anyone else who feels that they can have a positive impact on the group or make a valid contribution. Having said that, this website is available to everyone to read, member or not. Also, most of our events are open to non-members although members do usually receive a discount!

You can easily sign up to the society online on our LUU Page but the most popular way to join the society is at the annual fresher's fair where we have a stall each year. This year it will take place on the 20th of September in Riley Smith Hall in the Union. It costs £5 to join and you will automatically be added to the mailing list to be kept up-to-date with events and announcements. Now obviously, after the first couple of weeks, the fresher's fair is over for another 12 months, but not to worry! If you decide not to join then it is still possible to become a member at a later stage in the year. Every day we host "Coffee Hour", providing somewhere for members to socialise, relax and eat their lunch between 12 and 2 in ARC Meeting Room 3, upstairs in LUU. As there is always a committee member present, you can join the society then, or if that sounds a bit daunting, you can email the committee and arrange to meet one of us who will sort out your registration.

Now, if you've just become a member, congratulations and another big welcome to one of the university's largest societies. If you haven't already, you will soon receive an email with details of upcoming events, elections and the like to keep you informed. In the meantime, all of the information you need you should be able to find on this website. The society has its own email address, so if you ever need to contact the committee about a problem, an issue you may have, for information about an event or to meet someone individually if the idea of meeting all of us at once is a bit scary, then our details can be found in the "contacts section".
